the purlesque knitting circle have been sneaky this month!!! KNIT GRAFFITI! we took over the bluecoat gardens with our pink and white knitting! and this is just the beginning. keep your eyes open round Liverpool, we have more sneaky-ness planned!

on Tuesday we attempted to all knit in the round... together! after a couple of tangles, and confusion... we managed!

Purlesque invites you to preview their new summer range.

The range includes 7 bolts of Echino fabric, 100% cotton from Japan, as well as new knitted goods and lovely new buttons!

Be the first to see the new stock at our late night shop opening, there may also be some bargains to be had!

Saturday 13^th June: World Wide Knit in Public day.

12pm onwards.

Come to the Bluecoat for an afternoon of knitting.

Can’t knit? Don’t worry, worksheets will be available and we’re here to help. Just bring some needles along or we can advise you on the best materials to get you started. Hopefully the weather will be nice, so you will find us knitting outside eating cake and drinking tea. If not, we’ll be in the Hub café (still drinking tea).

Our Sunday knitting circle is now taking place on the first Sunday of each month. So the next is 1st Feb, then 1st March. Do come along. New comers and beginners always welcome!!

Knitting with a hat on

This Sunday we wore hats and hairbands around the theme of drinking tea and coffee as we normally have our meetings in the cafe. Jane wore a knitted coffee cup and saucer, Sarah had cupcakes and sweets on her hairband and Ildi wore a paper mache capuccino. More ideas coming soon!...

Aintree Crafts show

Here we go... Our group helped out at the ukhandknitting stand as volunteers to teach knitting. And we presented them with the very first knitted Liver bird that will be part of the Great British Picknit display.

Liverpool Knitted Wallhanging

Knit a panel for Liverpool, the Knitting Capital of Culture 2008!

The Purlesque group of Liverpool is looking for knitters & crocheters who would like to contribute a panel (or more) for a wallhanging inspired by Liverpool to celebrate our Capital of Culture status.

We are looking for knitted or crocheted square panels, size

30 cm x 30 cm (12 in x 12 in).

We would like plain panels (for example for parks & the River Mersey) and decorated ones (for example the letters of L-I-V-E-R-P-O-O-L, a picture of the Superlambanana, something music or sports-related, etc.), or even 3D pieces (buildings, grass, trees, etc.).

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced knitter/crocheter, you are welcome to take part in our project. We are happy to help and discuss your idea and you can also team up with other people to make a panel.

The deadline for submitting your panel(s) is

30th September, 2008.

We plan to display the finished wallhanging in public spaces around Liverpool.

Knitting with a zip?!

Has anybody ever tried knitting with a zip? Yes, using it instead of yarn.
Our Gillian has got a big reel of continuous zip, so she got some large needles and had a go.

Knitted Liver Bird

When we first met up about starting a group we decided to make our own contribution to the Great British Picknit in the form of a Liver bird. As far as we know this is going to be the first ever knitted Liver bird.
It's the famous symbol of Liverpool and it fits in with the picnic quite well.
We're working on it in a bit of a rush as we've only just met a couple of times, but we'd like to present it to ukhandknitting at the International Craft and Hobby Fair held in Aintree April 25-27th.

Purlesque - new Liverpool knitting group

We have started a new knitting group in Liverpool under the name "Purlesque". We meet every Sunday afternoon 2-4 in the Bluecoat Centre cafe.

We welcome anybody who would like to join in whether you knit, crochet or would like to learn.

We're also planning to do some joint projects and make knitted art together. If you're interested, come and find us.
